1.     Story as an LSKM student:

Although I have had basic pre-knowledge about music, I realised during this module that I do not know a thing about music and performance art in the Foundation Phase classroom, but I have gained knowledge of music education during this module. After I have completed this module, I have gained a cheerful outlook towards music education, and I gained skills of how to integrate music in my lessons and classroom. I can educate learners with music, and I have experienced that music is beneficial in the classroom and beneficial for the learners. Music is fun and it offers so much for the learners and their development.

2.     What was your experience of the role of individual reflection as part of the teaching and learning process?

·       What did you learn from your individual reflections?

The individual reflections enabled me to reflect on how I have grown and developed throughout this module. After completing this module, I exactly knew what was expected from me as a teacher in the music and arts education in Foundation Phase. The individual reflections gave me the opportunity to reflect on what knowledge I have gained and my understanding of this knowledge but is also reflect on the concepts I do not understand. It was also interesting for me to read the other students blogs and to see what was interesting for them and they also highlighted important concepts for me, which I did not saw as important.

·       What did you find challenging?

It was challenging for me to create music activities that is applicable to the Foundation Phase classroom. The choose of music was also challenging for me, because the music must be appropriate for the learners, and it must also gain learners attention. I found it difficult to integrate music into other subjects, as it forced me to think out of the box. This module was out of my comfort zone, but I pulled trough all the challenges and I really enjoyed this module.

·       Did you find the individual reflections meaningful?

Yes, I did find the individual reflections meaningful. The individual reflection was meaningful because it gave me the opportunity to reflect on what I have learned, and I even gain a better understanding of the work through ‘’blogging’’.

·       What would you change if you had the opportunity in future?

I would not change a thing in terms of this module. Every lesson, assignment and test were put out exceptionally good and I understood what was expected from me in this module. I have really developed throughout this module in terms of music education.

3.  Please share what you would change in the LSKM221 module if you had the opportunity.

·       What did you find interesting and meaningful?

Wow, this whole module was interesting and meaningful, from learning about music elements throughout to integrate music in other subjects. Everything was interesting and meaningful, because the lessons followed one another, and every time there was another building brick to the knowledge, content, and concepts that I can use in the Foundation Phase classroom.

·       What challenged you, and what do you still struggle to understand?

It found it challenging to integrate music and arts in other subjects and to make sure I have met each learners needs. It was also challenging for me to choose the right and appropriate song for the age group. I am more comfortable now to make use of music activities and the integration of music in other subjects.

·       What didn’t you find valuable for your future teaching practice?

Every bit of this module was valuable for my future teaching practice. I am ready and excited to use music in my classroom and to experience how my learners will develop with the use of music. I can not wait to present an exciting and joyful class to my learners with the use of music.

MUSIC IS VALUABLE AND IT DOES MATTERS!

Bloggers, what an amazing experience this was, and I hope that you are also excited to use music in your classroom and to have an influence in learners’ lives.

Enjoy the rest of jour journey as a teachers & remember you are called to be here and to have influence.

LOVE <3
